Psilocybin Induced Changes in Transmodal and Unimodal Regions Experiment (PICTURE)
Abstract
The proposed study investigates the eitive processing, drawing parallels with schizophrenia. Specifically, it examines how psilocybin, analogously to schizophrenia (Adamek et al., 2024) , shifts cognitive processing from a predominantly top-down approach to an increased bottom-up processing. This shift hypothesizes an enhanced flow of information from unimodal to transmodal cortical regions, including the Default Mode Network (DMN), Central Executive Network (CEN), and, to a certain extent, the Salience Network (SN). The underlying mechanism of this phenomenon and its potential replication of schizophrenia-related cognitive processing patterns will be explored.
