Are psychedelic insights different? Investigating 'Aha!' moments in real-life, psychedelic and problem-solving contexts.
Abstract
This study aims to investigate the core dimensions of insight experiences in experimentally induced, real-life, and psychedelic contexts. Specifically, we will investigate whether meaningfulness and ineffability are overlooked dimensions of insight experiences, and if these qualities are more prominent in real-life or psychedelic insight experiences than experimentally induced insights. Through means of an online survey, we will compare rating scales of phenomenological insight dimensions and conduct exploratory content analysis of open-text responses across insight contexts. Of secondary interest is an exploration of belief change and levels of meta-awareness across contexts through an analysis of self-report content.
