Abstract

Agarikon is the reference layer for psychedelic medicine. ** Most information about this field lives in fragments that never connect: a clinic listed in one directory, its trials in a federal registry, the researchers in the literature, the law that permits the work in a statehouse database, the money behind it in disclosure filings. Agarikon joins those layers into one index and cites the source at every edge. This deposit is the frozen data behind agarikon-index.com/.   ** What it covers (this snapshot): ** roughly 2,564 treatment clinics and 282 retreats or legal-access points across dozens of countries; 1,619 registered clinical trials; 1,660 researchers with a 9,757-work publication corpus and its citation graph; 173 organizations that fund, supply, train, insure, and regulate the field; 1,532 tracked state legislative bills; and federal series covering DEA production quotas and CMS payment and claims data. Each treatment and access-point row carries a legal-status classification, with the enabling statute cited where one exists.   ** Why it can be trusted. ** The value of an index is not how many rows it holds but how many of them are real. Agarikon is screened, not scraped. Sources routinely present records that look in-scope and are not, and the pipeline removes them under explicit, published rules: relevance classification when data is ingested, validation when it is merged, and quarantine with a written reason before anything is published. Nothing is silently dropped; excluded records are retained with their reason so every decision is auditable. The screening record ships with this deposit as EXCLUSION_LOG.md and exclusion_log.csv, and it is a feature of the methodology, not a footnote to it.   ** Provenance and licensing (mixed, stated per source, never blanket): ** - Clinical trials: ClinicalTrials.gov (U.S. Government, public domain) - CMS Open Payments, Medicare Part B, DEA quotas / Federal Register: U.S. Government, public domain - Publications and author metrics: OpenAlex and PubMed (CC0 / permissive) - State legislation: ** LegiScan, licensed CC BY 4.0; attribution required ** ("via LegiScan" plus the bill URL, shipped in the ` attribution ` column and to be preserved in any reuse) - Clinic and retreat listings: aggregated from public directories and state licensing feeds; these are screened aggregations rather than independently verified field data, and directory-sourced listings are not relicensed here   ** Scope, stated plainly. ** The clinics dataset is a screened directory aggregation. Legal-status classification is present on every facility row; the enabling statute is cited where one exists, which covers retreat and legal-access rows with a mappable jurisdiction and is largely absent for ordinary clinics, since those operate under generally applicable medical law rather than a psychedelic-specific statute. These are the honest edges of a living index that rebuilds daily and publishes its own change log.   Full methodology, coverage, and per-source detail: https://agarikon-index.com/data
