Stress is essential for adaptation, but can cause disease when excessive and is a risk factor for psychiatric disorders. The unpredictable chronic stress (UCS) protocol has been used for decades to study stress-related disorders, and zebrafish have emerged as an animal model with genetic similarity to humans and well-defined social behaviors. This project aims to investigate the rapid effects of ketamine in the zebrafish UCS model. The research may aid in the search for new treatments for stress-related mental disorders.
