Understanding causes and consequences of psychedelics: A cross-sectional survey study
Abstract
This project consists of a cross-section survey that will be conducted in a large group of people who are interested and / or have experience with psychedelics. This project is conducted as part of a bachelor thesis project at Leiden University. The different variables included in this study will be collected jointly; the individual projects will focus on an analysis of parts of this data-set. As such the different hypotheses and analyses are specified separately as 6 individual ‘packages’. 1. (1-4) Testing the association between trip setting, nature relatedness and connectedness. 2. (5-8) Investigating the association between use of psychedelics and supernatural beliefs, and the possibility that this association is mediated by anthropomorphism and ontological confusions. 3. (9-1-) Understanding the interplay of ego-dissolution and awe when looking at pro-environmental behaviour as a result of a psychedelic experience 4. (11) Testing the association between prior religiosity and religious attribution of the experience during the use of psychedelics. 5. (12) Testing the association between thinking style and supernatural attributions users make to psychedelic experience. 6. (13-15) Testing the association between psychedelics and believing in conspiracy theories and whether this association is mediated by anthropomorphism.
