Associations Between Psilocybin and Alcohol Co-Use and Mental Health Symptoms
Abstract
Background: Psilocybin may be co-used with other substances, such as alcohol but little is known about how co-use vs. alcohol-only use may be related to different mental health outcomes. Understanding these associations can inform best practices for harm reduction and therapeutic use. Objective: This study examines how psilocybin and alcohol co-use vs. alcohol-only use relates to mental health symptoms such as depression, anxiety, and poor mental health days. Methods: Data from the NSIHT will be analyzed to compare mental health measures across individuals with different psilocybin consumption patterns. Regression analyses will test the relationship between use patterns and mental health outcomes.
