Set and Setting: A Randomized Clinical Trial of Facility Design for Psychedelic Treatment
Abstract
This pre-registered clinical trial will assess the impact of an indoor biophilic intervention on health outcomes for individuals undergoing ketamine-assisted therapy (KAP) for depression, anxiety, or PTSD. Individuals completing a KAP treatment program are randomly assigned to a treatment room with low-, mid-, or high-biophilic characteristics. Depression, anxiety, PTSD, and Connectedness to Nature (CNS) will be measured prior to the first treatment session and following the final session. Participants will also complete a short survey after each session to assess engagement with the space. A MANOVA will compare the impact of each treatment space on mental health outcomes. A linear regression analysis will assess a potential mediating relationship between treatment space, connectedness to nature, and mental health outcomes.
