Investigating if the source and type of evidence affects the level of support for psilocybin rescheduling and psychedelic misperceptions

OSFMar 1, 2021

Abstract

Study aims to answer the following 2 questions: What source and type of evidence is most effective in gaining public backing for the rescheduling of psychedelics for therapeutic use? What are the public perceptions of psychedelic clinical research? We will be showing participants a video where type of evidence (scientific vs anecdotal) and source of evidence (psychologist vs advocate) are manipulated. We will be measuring how likely participants would be to sign a petition for the rescheduling of psilocybin, as well as their attitudes towards common psychedelic misperceptions. Qualitative data will also be measured to understand participant's perceptions towards psychedelic clinical research.
