Persistent Psychedelic-Associated Psychological Disorders

OSFFeb 11, 2026

Abstract

This project investigates the relationship between the quality and intensity of acute psychedelic and/or entactogenic effects and the development of post-acute psychological symptoms (PAPS). Participants are individuals who experience ongoing symptoms since substance use, focusing primarily on depersonalization/derealization disorder (DDD), hallucinogen persisting perception disorder (HPPD), symptoms of Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), and other psychiatric symptoms. The study aims to investigate whether the quality and intensity of the acute experience is associated with PAPS. Results will clarify symptom profiles and risk factors for the different PAPS, contributing to an improved understanding and risk assessment of PAPS.
