The Effects of Psychedelics on Repressed Memory: A Scoping Review
Abstract
The use of psychedelic drugs has been increasingly linked to the resurfacing of repressed memory (Healy, 2021). However, the topic of repressed memory is controversial as research suggests that there are plausible alternative reasons for why people claim traumatic memory loss (Curran et al., 2018; Dodier et al., 2024; Doss et al., 2024; Healy, 2021; Otgaar et al., 2019). This scoping review will focus on creating an overview of the findings of the presumed effect of psychedelics on repressed memory. To obtain a better understanding of the amount and types of research that has been done on this topic, a scoping review will be conducted. This scoping review will follow the PRISMA-ScR strategy (Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic reviews and Meta-Analyses extension for Scoping Reviews). References Curran, H.
