Relative effectiveness of ketamine dosing for treatment-resistant depression. A systematic review and network meta-analysis of Randomized Controlled Trials
Abstract
Major depression and treatment-resistant depression (TRD) represent a significant burden to the health of individuals worldwide. Specifically, TRD is the lack of response to two or more antidepressive regimens. Ketamine is a promising alternative medication to second-generation antidepressants, showing rapid beneficial clinical response in patients with TRD. However, there are no current network meta-analyses comparing the efficacy of different doses and methods of administration for ketamine in patients with TRD. This review aims to compile randomized controlled trials using ketamine for TRD vs. placebo/active placebo, allowing for comparison of ketamine regimens. Furthermore, it will be able to comment on the safety outcomes for the various ketamine regimens and examine risk of bias in included randomized controlled trials.
