Effects of psilocybin use in adults patients with obsessive-compulsive disorder: a rapid review
Abstract
This protocol proposes to carry out a rapid review of scientific evidence to make evidence-based decisions in health policies and practices. The Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) was once considered a rare condition, as indicated by studies dating back to the 1950s, which pointed to a prevalence of five patients per 10,000 individuals (or 0.05%). There are reports of the beneficial effects of hallucinogenic substances, such as psilocybin and LSD, in patients with OCD and related conditions. The aim is to evaluate the potential use of psilocybin to treat adult patients with Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD).
