Psilocybin use in the Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) population: a scoping review protocol
Abstract
Psilocybin is an alkaloid found in multiple Basidiomycete fungi of the genera Psilocybe, Copelandia and Gymnopilus. The effect of Psilocybin has been widely described initially observed with psychedelic reactions by action on the cerebral cortex and by competition for 5HT receptors. Thanks to this set of reactions and pharmacological performance, it has been used in different diseases, including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Objective: To synthesize the use of Psilocybin in populations with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) through a wide scope review.
